Product Features & Core Advantages

High-Distance Uplink Capability: Features one Single-Mode SC optical port capable of spanning up to 30 km without signal degradation, allowing direct connection from isolated remote field cabinets to the central control station.

Compact Footprint: At only 47 mm wide, it takes up minimal DIN rail cabinet space, making it perfect for retrofit upgrades inside small enclosures.

Industrial Redundancy Platforms: Supports HIPER-Ring and MRP (Media Redundancy Protocol), allowing sub-20ms recovery times if a physical network link is disrupted.

Firmware Reliability: Pre-loaded with Classic Operating System (L2S) featuring security capabilities, port-mirroring, and localized VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) segregation to keep automation traffic secure.

Fanless Thermal System: Built with an advanced heat-sink housing that completely eliminates active cooling fans, drastically increasing MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures).

Model Classification

The OpenRail RS20 low-density managed switches are classified by fiber type and port speed requirements:

Single-Mode Uplink (Long Range):

RS20-0400S2T1SDAE: 3 x RJ45 ports + 1 x Single-Mode SC port (This Model).

Multi-Mode Uplink (Short Range):

RS20-0400M2T1SDAE: 3 x RJ45 ports + 1 x Multi-Mode SC port (Max. distance 4–5 km).

All-Copper Configurations:

RS20-0400T1T1SDAE: 4 x standard RJ45 Fast Ethernet ports.

Environmental Tolerance Conditions

Operating Temperature: 0°C to +60°C (Standard managed industrial environment)

Storage & Transport Temp: -40°C to +70°C

Relative Humidity: 10% to 95% (Non-condensing)

Vibration Resistance: Meets IEC 60068-2-6 standard ($3.5\text{ mm}$ displacement at $2\text{ to }9\text{ Hz}$, $1\text{g}$ acceleration at $9\text{ to }150\text{ Hz}$).

Shock Resistance: Meets IEC 60068-2-27 standard ($15\text{ g}$ peak force, $11\text{ ms}$ duration).

Industrial Approvals: cUL508. CE, FCC Class A, and ISA 12.12.01 Class 1 Div 2 hazardous location clearance.

Installation Method

1.Mount Device to the DIN Rail:Standard 35 mm DIN Rail。

Hook the upper slide hook of the RS20 chassis onto the top edge of your DIN rail. Push down on the switch frame and snap the lower locking tab into place. Ensure it is locked solid.

2.Connect Ground Connection:Grounding Wire (14 AWG min)。

Establish a connection between the ground terminal screw on the bottom front face of the switch and your panel’s primary copper grounding bar.

3.Wire Power Terminal Blocks:9.6 to 60 VDC。

Unplug the 6-pin terminal connector block from the top of the switch. Secure your DC power lines to the positive and negative terminals (using P1 and P2 if dual source inputs are available). Re-insert the block into the switch.

4.Connect Communication Media:Copper & Fiber Cables。

Plug standard Cat5e patch cords into RJ45 ports 2. 3. and 4. Remove the protective rubber dust cover from port 1 and plug in your Single-Mode SC fiber optic connection.

Diagnostic LED Interpretations

Power (P1 / P2): Green indicates the designated power supply is active and outputting safe voltage levels ($>9.6\text{ VDC}$).

Fault (F):

Off: System operating within normal specifications.

Red / Solid: An error has been registered (e.g., loss of redundant power line, a monitored network link failure, or a system temperature warning).

Standby / RM: Solid green indicates the switch is actively performing the role of Ring Manager inside a redundant fiber loop.

Link/Activity (L/D):

Green / Solid: Hardware link detected.

Green / Flashing: Data packets actively transmitting.

Off: No physical link detected.
