Shinkawa RiverNew Vibration Transducer VK202 Series
Shinkawa RiverNew Vibration Transducer VK202 Series
The Shinkawa RiverNew VK202 Vibration Transducer System is a high-precision, non-contact eddy-current monitoring system designed for continuous vibration, axial displacement, and rotational speed measurement on critical rotating machinery. Built by Shinkawa Electric Co., Ltd., the VK202 non-contact sensing loop converts changes in distance between the probe tip and target shaft into an accurate, linear voltage output.
A standard RiverNew VK202 system consists of three modular components:
VL-202 Proximity Sensor Probe
VW Extension Cable
VK-202 Driver / Signal Conditioner

Environmental Tolerance Conditions
Sensor Head Operating Temperature: -30°C to +177°C (-22°F to +350°F) for high-temperature turbine environments.
Driver Unit Operating Temperature: -20°C to +65°C (-4°F to +149°F).
Relative Humidity: 5% to 95% RH (non-condensing); oil and splash-resistant sensor design.
Corrosion Immunity: Stainless steel sensor body construction resistant to lube oil, fuel vapor, and chemical contaminants.
Operating Instructions
Check Gap Voltage: Mount the VL-202 probe so the baseline gap setting matches the recommended mid-range DC voltage output (typically -10 V DC to -12 V DC depending on system setup).
Ensure Signal Shielding: Run extension cables inside dedicated grounded conduits to protect sensitive signal frequencies from high-voltage motor EMI.
Avoid Target Interference: Maintain a minimum clearance distance around the target shaft area equal to twice the probe tip diameter to eliminate metal side-wall interference.
Fault Diagnosis & Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Probable Cause | Corrective Action |
| Output Saturation (Full Supply Voltage) | Open circuit or disconnected cable between driver and probe. | Check coaxial extension cable pins and coaxial connectors for physical damage or loose connections. |
| Zero Voltage Output / Near Zero | Probe tip touching target metal directly or grounded signal wire. | Back probe away from shaft; measure gap distance and check wiring insulation. |
| Excessive Signal Noise / Erratic Readings | Ground loop formation or electrical runout on target shaft. | Verify shield wiring is grounded at one end only (at driver/rack) and inspect target shaft surface. |
