Vibro-Meter CPUR2 Central Processing and Controller Card
Vibro-Meter CPUR2 Central Processing and Controller Card is a core component of Meggitt’s VM600 Machinery Protection System (MPS) and Condition Monitoring System (CMS).
Installed directly into the central slot of 19-inch VM600 racks (such as ABE04x), the CPUR2 module manages internal rack communications, processes system parameters, and bridges vibration protection hardware to high-level plant networks (DCS, SCADA, and VibroSight condition monitoring software).
Product Introduction / Overview
System Hub: Serves as the central management engine within the VM600 system, orchestrating data flow between dynamic measurement modules (e.g., MPC4) and external control interfaces.
Dual Protection & Monitoring Support: Handles system configuration, status logging, and communication routing without interfering with hardwired safety trip logic.
Redundancy Capability: Designed for high-reliability applications; supports redundant CPUR2 card configurations to maintain active communication during hardware servicing.
Flexible Communications: Connects seamlessly to external monitoring networks via Ethernet and serial industrial protocols (Modbus RTU / Modbus TCP).

Product Features / Core Advantages
Modular Configuration Engine: Centralizes system parameter uploads/downloads for all adjacent processing cards across the VM600 backplane.
Hot-Swappable Design: Allows insertion and removal without shutting down power to the rack or interrupting critical hardware protection relays on MPC4 modules.
Integrated Diagnostics: Front-panel LED indicators display operational status, CPU activity, network link states, and communication fault conditions in real time.
High Availability Redundancy: Paired with an IOCR rear card, CPUR2 supports dual-redundant controller setups to eliminate single points of failure in mission-critical applications.
Model Classification
CPUR2 (Standard Controller): Standard processing unit handling basic rack management, network communications, and VibroSight integration.
CPUR2 / Standard Ordering Options:
Option A1: Standard configuration for basic machinery protection communication.
Option A2: Enhanced buffer memory and extended protocol activation for intensive condition monitoring systems.
Companion Module: Works directly with the IOCR (Input/Output Communication Card) mounted on the rear of the rack to output physical serial, Ethernet, and relay diagnostic connections.

Shock Resistance: IEC 60068-2-27 test standards (15g, 11 ms duration)
EMC Immunity/Emissions: IEC/EN 61000-6-2 (Industrial Immunity) and IEC/EN 61000-6-4 (Emissions)
Installation Method
Slot Selection: Power down or verify rack status. Identify slot 0 (or designated CPU slot) on the front of the VM600 ABE04x rack.
Card Alignment: Align the CPUR2 circuit board edges with the top and bottom guide rails of the designated rack slot.
Insertion: Slide the card smoothly into the slot until the rear DIN connectors engage firmly with the backplane.
Fastening: Tighten the top and bottom front-panel retaining screws to secure the card and ensure grounded electrical continuity.
Rear Module Pair: Ensure the matching IOCR interface card is aligned and securely screwed into the corresponding rear rack position.
Operating Instructions
Initial Setup: Connect a host PC running VibroSight or VM600 MPSx software to the CPUR2 front diagnostic port or IOCR rear Ethernet port.
Network Assignment: Assign a static IP address, subnet mask, and network gateway using the configuration utility.
Firmware & Config Push: Upload the system project file to configure rack slot assignments, sensor mapping, and Modbus address tables.
Routine Operation: Monitor front-panel LEDs during standard operation:
STATUS: Solid GREEN indicates normal CPU health.
ETHERNET / FIELDBUS: Flashing GREEN/YELLOW indicates active network traffic.
DIAG/FAULT: RED indicates an internal system exception or communication timeout.
