VIBRO-METER CPU controller CPUR
CPU controller CPUR
VIBRO-METER CPUR (Central Processing Unit Rack Card) is the core rack controller module for Meggitt’s Vibro-Meter VM600 series machinery protection and condition monitoring systems. Installed in slot 0 or slot 1 of a VM600 rack, the CPUR acts as the communication and processing hub, interfacing individual protection cards (such as MPC4) with external DCS, SCADA, or condition monitoring software via industrial fieldbus protocols.

Product Features / Core Advantages
Centralized Data Aggregation: Continuously gathers dynamic vibration, position, temperature, and speed data from all processing cards across the VM600 rack.
Dual Redundancy Options: Supports redundant rack controller configurations (CPUR + IOC-R paired) for mission-critical API 670 machinery protection systems.
Multi-Protocol Gateways: Native support for Modbus TCP/RTU allows seamless integration into Siemens, Honeywell, Emerson, and ABB DCS/PLC networks.
On-Board LCD Diagnostics: Real-time system health checks, rack configuration parameters, IP settings, and error codes displayed directly on the front panel.
Hot-Swappable Design: Can be safely removed and replaced during live rack operation without interrupting hardware protection relay triggers on MPC4 cards.

Installation Method
1.Power & ESD Preparation:Ensure rack grounding and static protection before handling。
Verify the VM600 rack is grounded via its main earth terminal. Wear a grounded wrist strap to prevent ESD damage to board-level components.
2.Mount the Rear IOC-R Card:Insert into the rear slot corresponding to slot 0/1.
Align the IOC-R card with the rear guide rails directly behind the designated CPUR slot. Slide in smoothly until backplane connectors mate, then tighten top and bottom captive screws.
3.Insert the CPUR Front Card:Align with front slot guide rails。
Slide the CPUR module into Slot 0 (or Slot 1 for redundant setups) from the front panel. Push the card in firmly until the injector handle locks into place with the rack frame.
4.Secure Fasteners & Connect Cables:Tighten screws and attach Ethernet/Serial cables。
Tighten the two front panel captive screws. Attach Ethernet (RJ45) and serial cables (DB9/RS-485 terminals) to the corresponding IOC-R card on the rear.
Operating Instructions
Initial Network Setup:
Connect a PC running Vibro-Meter VM600 MPSX / VibroSight software to the Ethernet port on the IOC-R card. Configure the static IP address, subnet mask, and Modbus device ID using the front-panel menu or configuration tool.
Status LED Monitoring:
OK (Green): Normal CPU operation and backplane communication active.
DIAG / ALARM (Yellow/Red): Communication loss, hardware fault, or rack configuration mismatch.
Modbus Register Mapping:
Map the Modbus register addresses in your DCS to read dynamic values (e.g., overall vibration, peak 1X amplitude, gap voltage) collected by the CPUR from the MPC4/TPC6 modules.
Maintenance & Firmware Upgrades:
Perform periodic backups of the CPUR configuration via VibroSight software prior to any system maintenance or firmware updates.
