IRIG-B Distribution Module

The SEL-3400 is an inexpensive, reliable, and precise way to distribute demodulated IRIG-B time information.

With 12 IRIG-B distribution ports and a bright display, the SEL-3400 is ideal for time distribution in panels.

Time Synchronization

Use up to 12 demodulated IRIG-B outputs to provide time synchronization to hundreds of devices.

Redundancy

Connect two time sources to an SEL-3400 IRIG-B Distribution Module for redundancy. If the time quality from the primary input source degrades, the SEL-3400 will switch to the second input source.

Time Display

Use the SEL-3400 Module’s LED time display to make the time or date easily visible in substations in all lighting conditions.

Reliability

Apply in harsh substation environments. The SEL-3400 exceeds IEEE C37.90 and IEC 60255 protective relay standards, and accurately operates from –40° to +85°C (–40° to +185°F).

Increased Distance for IRIG-B

Synchronize devices that have demodulated IRIG-B by using an SEL-3400 to extend the distance between the clock and the devices up to 131.2 feet.

This is very useful in large facilities where you want to avoid using multiple GPS clocks. The SEL-3400 is designed to compensate for its input-to-output latency. It can also be configured to compensate for the latencies of connected cabling.

Cable Management

Combine one SEL-2407 Satellite- Synchronized Clock with an SEL-3400 at the top of each equipment panel to simplify cabling.

When setting up your configuration this way, you’ll be able to look at the SEL-3400 Module’s status LEDs and easily see that all devices in that panel have precise time.
