ADLINK  cPCI-R6200 high-performance 6U CompactPCI Rear Transition Module (RTM)

The ADLINK  cPCI-R6200 is a high-performance 6U CompactPCI Rear Transition Module (RTM) designed for industrial computing, telecommunications, sub-station automation, and transportation control systems. Installed in the rear slot of a CompactPCI chassis, it directly routes rear I/O signals from primary 6U host processor blades (such as the ADLINK cPCI-6510/6930 series or compatible Hirschmann control hardware).

Product Introduction / Overview

The cPCI-R6200 acts as an interface expansion board that eliminates front-panel cabling congestion by routing high-speed storage, networking, display, and peripheral signals directly to the back of the rack. Built to meet standard PICMG 2.0 / PICMG 2.3 CompactPCI specifications, it supports rich high-density I/O including Gigabit Ethernet, multiple SATA interfaces, USB 2.0 ports, audio, and optional CompactFlash expansion adapters.

Product Features / Core Advantages

High-Density Rear I/O Expansion: Cleans up front-panel wiring by bringing 6x USB ports, dual GbE, and multiple storage connectors to the chassis rear.

Industrial Hot-Swap Reliability: Compliant with PICMG 2.1 hot-swap standards, allowing maintenance and card replacement without shutting down the entire system.

High Storage Flexibility: Integrates 3x SATA ports alongside support for legacy and CompactFlash mezzanine expansion adapters.

Rugged Mechanical Ejectors: Equipped with dual ergonomic industrial ejector handles to resist intense vibration and shock in harsh field environments.

Model Classification

cPCI-R6200(G)-0040: Standard 8HP 6U Rear Transition Module equipped with 2x GbE, 6x USB 2.0. DVI-I/VGA, 3x SATA, Audio, PS/2.

cPCI-R6210: Compact 4HP variant providing a slimmer form factor with reduced I/O density (2x USB, DVI-I, COM port, 2x SATA).

DB-CF-SA Mezzanine: Optional CompactFlash socket adapter card mounted directly on the cPCI-R6200 board for solid-state OS boot capabilities.

Environmental Tolerance Conditions

Installation Method

Power Down Chassis

Safety Precaution

1.Power Down Chassis:Safety Precaution。

Disconnect main AC/DC power from the 6U CompactPCI enclosure before inserting or removing the rear module.

Align Board Guide Rails

Mechanical Alignment

2.Align Board Guide Rails:Mechanical Alignment。

Locate the exact rear slot corresponding to the host processor blade on the front. Slide the cPCI-R6200 card edges gently into the card guide rails.

Engage Backplane Connectors

Condition Operating Limit Storage Limit
Temperature 0°C to +60°C (Standard) / -20°C to +70°C (Extended) -40°C to +85°C
Relative Humidity 5% to 95% (Non-condensing) 5% to 95% (Non-condensing)
Vibration 1.5 Grms, 5–500 Hz (Random) 3.0 Grms, 5–500 Hz
Shock 15 G peak acceleration, 11 ms duration 30 G peak acceleration, 11 ms

Slot Insertion

3.Engage Backplane Connectors:Slot Insertion。

Push the module inward until the rear backplane connectors make contact. Press the top and bottom ejector handles simultaneously until they lock into place.

Secure Retaining Screws

Vibration Protection

4.Secure Retaining Screws:Vibration Protection。

Tighten the top and bottom front-panel captive screws using a Phillips screwdriver to prevent loose connections under industrial vibration.

Operating Instructions

BIOS / Host Configuration: The cPCI-R6200 does not require independent firmware setup; I/O controllers are recognized automatically by the host 6U CompactPCI single-board computer (SBC) BIOS.

Gigabit Ethernet Routing: Ensure network cables are connected to the RJ-45 jacks on the rear panel. Check status LEDs for link activity (Green = 1000 Mbps, Amber = 10/100 Mbps).

Storage Connection: Connect internal SATA drives directly to onboard 7-pin SATA headers prior to sliding the board into the rack enclosure.
