GE Power Conversion P112-6152 Advanced Micro Controller (AMC2)

Unique Product Description

The GE Power Conversion P112-6152 is a specialized Advanced Micro Controller 2 (AMC2) embedded processor designed by Converteam (now GE Power Conversion). Built as an all-in-one control hub for complex industrial automation and harsh environments, the P112-6152 combines dual Profibus Master ports with a Serial16+ high-density serial expansion module.

Operating on an industrial-grade embedded processor core ( Intel Celeron-M 600 MHz) with 5 integrated Ethernet communication ports, this module is engineered for marine dynamic positioning (DP), drive system orchestration, process automation networks, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS). It bridges legacy multi-channel serial devices and modern multi-segment Profibus fieldbus architectures into a single, high-availability controller without requiring external gateways.

Product Advantages and Features

Dual Profibus Master Interfaces: Integrates 2 × Profibus Master ports, enabling simultaneous control over two independent or redundant Profibus DP/FMS sub-networks.

High-Density Serial Expansion: Equipped with 1 × Serial16+ module, providing multi-channel serial connectivity for legacy sensors, navigation units, or instrument links.

5 Integrated Ethernet Ports: Features 5 RJ45 LAN interfaces for network segregation, redundant host communication, and fieldbus-to-Ethernet routing.

Industrial Fanless Thermal Design: Rated for passive cooling operations up to 70 °C, eliminating moving parts susceptible to mechanical wear or dust ingress.

High Vibration & Shock Resistance: Tested to 15 g mechanical shock (IEC 61131-2), ideal for heavy-duty marine propulsion, offshore rigs, and industrial machinery.

Solid-State Reliability: Operates on an internal CompactFlash memory card (256 MB DRAM / 256 MB Flash), protecting firmware and logic execution against severe shock and vibration.

Rugged Power Architecture: Standard 24 V DC (±20%) low-power operation (~0.9 A nominal drawing current).

Installation and Maintenance

1. Mechanical Mounting & Thermal Guidance

Dimensions: 234 mm × 206 mm × 120 mm (W × H × D).

Mounting Style: Flange-mount panel assembly. Mount securely to a flat, grounded metal subpanel inside an enclosure rated IP54 or better.

Convection Clearance: Maintain at least 50 mm (2 inches) of unobstructed space above and below the cooling heatsink fins to support natural convection cooling.

2. Electrical Wiring & Grounding

Power Connection: Connect a regulated 24 V DC (±20%) supply to the primary power block.

System Grounding: Connect a heavy, low-impedance Protective Earth (PE) bonding strap from the chassis earth stud directly to the main enclosure ground bus bar to eliminate noise on Profibus and serial communication lines.

3. Preventive Maintenance & Spare Swapping

CompactFlash Card Handling: Verify that system power is fully isolated before removing or inserting the CompactFlash memory card.

Hardware Key / Licensing: When replacing an existing unit, transfer the system hardware identity key and application CompactFlash card from the faulty module to the replacement P112-6152.

Profibus Bus Termination: Ensure line termination resistors are set correctly on both Profibus Master lines to prevent communication drops or frame errors.
