Shinkawa WHF3006M Displacement Converter

The Shinkawa WHF3006M is a high-precision industrial displacement converter manufactured by Shinkawa Electric Co., Ltd. (Japan). It is designed to operate in tandem with non-contact eddy-current displacement sensors to perform continuous, high-accuracy measurement of shaft vibration, axial position, and thermal growth in heavy turbomachinery.

Product Introduction / Overview

The Shinkawa WHF3006M Displacement Converter acts as an essential signal conditioning bridge in industrial vibration monitoring systems. It energizes connected eddy-current proximity probes, senses inductance changes caused by metallic target movement, and converts these micro-displacements into standardized analog voltage or current signals suitable for PLCs, DCS networks, and machinery protection racks (such as the Shinkawa VM series).

Built for continuous $24/7$ industrial operation, the WHF3006M features high linearity, rapid frequency response, and robust environmental tolerance, making it a critical component for power plants, petrochemical facilities, and heavy manufacturing sites.

Product Features / Core Advantages

High-Precision Signal Processing: Delivers exceptional linearity and high signal-to-noise ratios across wide temperature ranges.

Broad Frequency Bandwidth: Captures both slow-moving thermal expansion (DC) and rapid dynamic shaft vibration (up to 10 kHz).

Industrial Noise Shielding: Housed in a durable enclosure with internal EMI filtering to protect against strong electromagnetic interference generated by large motors and generators.

Compact & Rugged Footprint: Designed for easy mounting inside field junction boxes near critical rotating machinery.

Long-Term Calibration Stability: Japanese precision engineering ensures minimal zero-point drift over multi-year continuous operation.

Model Classification

The WHF3006M series belongs to Shinkawa’s specialized signal converter ecosystem:

WHF3006M Base Converter: Standard output configuration for industrial vibration and position monitoring.

System Integration Compatibility: Operates as part of a three-piece measuring loop comprising a VL Series Proximity Probe, a VW Series Extension Cable, and the WHF3006M Converter.

Environmental Tolerance Conditions

To maintain long-term reliability and precise measurement accuracy, the WHF3006M converter must operate within the following environmental limits:

Operating Temperature Range: -10°C to +65°C (14°F to 149°F)

Storage Temperature Range: -30°C to +80°C (-22°F to 176°F)

Relative Humidity: 5% to 95% RH (Non-condensing)

Vibration Resistance: 10 Hz to 55 Hz, 0.15 mm amplitude (per IEC 60068-2-6)

Shock Resistance: 15g peak acceleration, 11 ms duration

Operating Environment: Protect from direct water submersion, conductive dust, active chemical vapors, and corrosive acid atmospheres.

Installation Method

1.Power Isolation:Safety Prerequisite。

Power down the target monitoring cabinet and disconnect DC supply lines to prevent electrical short-circuiting during terminal wiring.

2.Converter Attachment:Mechanical Mounting。

Secure the WHF3006M converter onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail or surface-mount plate inside a weatherproof field junction box (IP65 rated or higher).

3.Coaxial Cable Interconnect:Sensor Connection。

Connect the extension cable from the proximity probe to the coaxial input connector of the WHF3006M. Hand-tighten the coaxial fitting and seal the junction with heat-shrink tubing to prevent electrical grounding loops.

4.Terminal Block Wiring:Output & Power Wiring。

Connect the 24V DC power supply lines and signal output wires to the screw terminals. Ensure cable shielding is grounded at one end only to avoid ground loops.

Operating Instructions

Pre-Power Verification: Confirm that probe cable length matches the converter’s calibrated system length (e.g., 5-meter or 9-meter total system length).

Gap Voltage Calibration: Measure the initial DC gap voltage output at the converter terminals while adjusting the sensor probe position relative to the shaft target until reaching the specified mid-scale voltage (typically -10 V DC).

Signal Monitoring: Verify dynamic AC vibration signals using an oscilloscope or online condition monitoring software during machine start-up.

Routine Maintenance: Periodically inspect coaxial connections for tightness, moisture ingress, or mechanical stress during scheduled plant outages.
