SHINKAWA VL-202A08L-1012 Rotor Position Monitor Probe Sensor

Product Advantages and Features

The SHINKAWA VL-202A08L-1012 is an eddy-current non-contact proximity probe sensor engineered for high-precision displacement and vibration monitoring. Specifically tailored for turbomachinery protection systems (TPS), this sensor monitors critical parameters such as rotor position, axial thrust displacement, and radial vibration.

Non-Contact Precision Measurement: Measures the gap between the probe tip and the target shaft without physical contact, eliminating friction, mechanical wear, and operational drag.

High Thermal Stability: Maintains linear signal response and accuracy across extreme temperature fluctuations typical of heavy industrial turbine housing environments.

Ruggedized Construction: Encapsulated in corrosion-resistant stainless steel with a flexible armored cable to protect signal conductors against oil, chemical mist, and abrasive debris.

Exceptional Linearity & Response Rate: Delivers high dynamic response required for early detection of micro-level shaft movement, shaft runaway, or bearing degradation.

Seamless System Integration: Engineered to connect seamlessly with Shinkawa VK-series signal converters/drivers (e.g., VK-202A) and VM-series rack monitoring systems.

Other Models in the Same Series

The Shinkawa VL-202A probe family includes a variety of thread pitches, tip diameters, armored extension cable configurations, and mounting lengths:

SHINKAWA VL-202A08L-1032 (Eddy current proximity displacement probe)

SHINKAWA VL-202A08L-1A72 (Sensors paired with VK-202A drivers for axial position monitoring)

SHINKAWA VL-202A05L-1012 (Variant with 5mm tip diameter)

SHINKAWA VK-202A2 (Matching signal driver/preamplifier unit for VL-202A series probes)

Installation and Maintenance

Installation Guidelines:

Target Area Preparation: Ensure the target shaft surface is free from scratches, magnetism, rust, or deep machining marks, as electrical runout can corrupt sensor readings.

Gap Calibration (Zeroing): Mount the probe in its designated bracket or port. Adjust the mechanical insertion depth to establish the recommended initial voltage output (typically set at the center of the linear voltage range using a matching VK-driver).

Locking Mechanism: Secure the sensor body using the integral jam nut. Do not overtork the probe body during threaded installation.

Cable Routing: Avoid sharp bend radii on the flexible armored section. Route the coaxial extension cable through grounded conduit away from high-voltage electrical lines to prevent electromagnetic interference.

Maintenance Procedures:

Visual Checks: Inspect the probe tip periodically for oil sludge build-up, metal particles, or physical damage.

Cable Integrity: Check coaxial connectors for tightness, oxidation, or oil ingress; use protective boots where exposed to industrial fluids.

Calibration Verification: Verify the sensor’s voltage output against a known gap gauge during planned turbomachinery maintenance outages.
