Shinkawa LCU-44B-06 Local Control Unit Module

Shinkawa LCU-44B-06 Local Control Unit Module is a high-reliability machinery protection and signal monitoring processor engineered by Shinkawa Electric. Designed primarily for turbomachinery monitoring systems (such as the VM-5/VM-7 series), it conditions, processes, and evaluates real-time vibration, axial displacement, and phase-mark signals from eddy-current displacement sensors. By providing rapid diagnostic evaluation and immediate relay output triggers during critical vibration spikes, the LCU-44B-06 prevents catastrophic mechanical failure in high-speed rotating assets.

Application Cases

Steam & Gas Turbine Monitoring: Continuously tracks shaft vibration, thrust position, and thermal expansion on power generation turbines to prevent rotor-to-stator contact.

Centrifugal & Axial Compressors: Monitors shaft dynamic motion and journal bearing health in petrochemical plant gas compression loops.

High-Duty Boiler Feed Pumps: Delivers real-time vibration and speed monitoring for critical pumps in power plants and refineries.

Large Industrial Blowers & Fans: Provides continuous machinery protection against rotor unbalance, misalignments, and bearing wear in heavy manufacturing.

Product Advantages and Features

High-Precision Signal Acquisition: Delivers precise real-time processing of signals from proximity probes and transducers with minimal signal drift.

Machinery Protection Compliance: Built to align with stringent industrial rotating machinery safety standards (including API 670 guidelines).

Dual Monitoring & Alarm Functions: Features customizable dual-stage alarm thresholds (Alert and Danger/Trip) with fast relay activation to safely trip machines during excessive vibration.

Robust Noise Immunity: Built-in hardware filtering cancels high-frequency electrical noise and electromagnetic interference (EMI) typical of heavy industrial environments.

Continuous Self-Diagnostics: Features internal health check routines that detect sensor line faults, power supply dips, and processor logic errors, reducing false trip events.

Other Models in the Same Series

Model Code Module / System Type Primary Function
LCU-44B-06 Local Control / Signal Conditioner Unit Vibration & shaft position signal processing module
LCU-44B-01 / 02 Local Control Processor Configuration-specific signal conditioning board variants
VM-5S / VM-7S Vibration Monitoring System Rack Multi-channel rack chassis for housing LCU and monitor cards
VK-202A / VK-452A Eddy-Current Displacement Sensors Non-contact proximity probes feeding shaft motion data to the LCU

Installation and Maintenance

Rack Installation: Turn off system backplane power. Carefully align the LCU-44B-06 circuit board with the guide rails in the VM series rack and insert until the rear multi-pin connector latches securely. Tighten top and bottom retention thumbscrews.

Sensor Cabling: Connect proximity probe driver/transducer output cables using shielded coaxial or twisted-shielded wires. Ground overall cable shielding at the system rack earthing point only to eliminate ground loops.

Periodic Calibration: Verify sensor input-to-output linearity and trip threshold accuracy annually using a precision signal generator or sensor calibrator during scheduled plant maintenance shutdowns.

Module Ventilation: Keep cabinet air intake filters clean to ensure steady airflow across the rack, preventing thermal stress on internal micro-logic components.
