SAMSUNG SPDI-16 (Digital Input Module)

SAMSUNG SSAS-PRO SPDI-16 is a 16-channel digital input module designed for marine automation, shipboard engine monitoring, and industrial alarm systems. Part of the Samsung SSAS-Pro (Ship Automation System Pro) architecture, the module collects binary status signals (on/off, switch contacts, alarm states, pulse counts) from machinery and field sensors and transmits the processed data to central control units or operator workstations (SPOWS).

Installation Method

DIN Rail / Backplane Mounting: Mount the unit firmly onto the panel DIN rail or designated SSAS-Pro base rack. Ensure structural grounding is secured.

Terminal Wiring: Connect field sensors to input terminals according to channel polarity and dry/wet contact requirements.

Bus Interconnect: Plug in the primary and secondary communication ribbon/Ethernet cables connecting the SPDI-16 module to the main CPU frame.

Power Verification: Verify 24V DC field supply voltage prior to energizing the module.

Operating Instructions

Pre-Power Inspection: Check field terminal connections for short circuits or reverse polarity before applying power.

Status Diagnostics: Observe channel LEDs during startup. Solid channel LEDs indicate active contact closure; blinking or off indicators indicate open circuits or loop wire faults.
