HIRSCHMANN MM20-Z6Z6T1M2SAHH Fast Ethernet media module

Product Overview

The HIRSCHMANN MM20-Z6Z6T1M2SAHH is a hot-swappable hybrid Fast Ethernet media module designed for Hirschmann’s modular MICE switch series (MS20 and MS30 basic switches).

It provides a hybrid combination of optical fiber transceivers (SFP) and local copper ports (RJ45 and M12/ST options depending on sub-tier), allowing network engineers to bridge long-distance fiber backbone connections directly with localized control equipment without requiring separate media converters.

2. Key Features & Core Advantages

Hot-Swappable Backplane Architecture: Can be inserted or replaced while the host switch is live, ensuring zero downtime for adjacent modules.

Flexible SFP Integration: Unpopulated SFP slots allow customization between single-mode, multi-mode, or long-haul SFP transceivers (such as the Hirschmann M-FAST-SFP series).

Industrial Hardening: Engineered for extreme electromagnetic interference (EMI) immunity, vibration resistance, and long continuous operation in industrial enclosures.

Auto-Negotiation & Auto-MDI/MDI-X: Standard copper ports automatically adjust line speed (10/100 Mbps) and cable pinouts, eliminating the need for crossover cables.

Comprehensive Diagnostics: Front-panel LEDs provide status updates for link status, activity, power, and duplex modes.

EMC Immunity: EN 61000-6-2 (Industrial Environments)

6. Installation & Operating Instructions

Installation Steps

ESD Safety: Wear an anti-static grounding wrist strap before handling the module.

Backplane Insertion: Align the guide rails of the MM20 module with an open slot on the host MS20 or MS30 switch frame.

Locking: Push the module firmly in place until the backplane connector locks into position, then hand-tighten the captive thumbscrews on the front panel.

Cabling: Insert approved Fast Ethernet SFP transceivers into the SFP slots, then attach fiber/copper cables.

Operational Guidelines

SFP Protection: Keep rubber dust caps inserted in unpopulated SFP slots and RJ45 jacks to maintain an IP20 rating and avoid contamination.

Live Swap: To replace or service a module, disconnect all signal lines, loosen the captive screws, and pull the module out directly. Powering down the host switch is not required.
