Behavior of “holding brake” function

Drives withanenabledholdingbrakefunctionhaveaspecial timingforswitchingonandoff theoutput stage(=>

p. 93). Events that removetheDRV.ACTIVE signal triggertheholdingbraketoapply. As withall electronic cir

cuits, the general rule applies that there is a possibility of the internal holding brake module failing. Personnel

safety, e.g. with hanging load (vertical axes), requires an additional mechanical brake which must besafely oper

ated, for exampleby asafety control.

If velocity drops below threshold CS.VTHRESH ortimeout occurs duringastopprocedure, thebrakeis applied.

Behavior when undervoltage condition is present

Thebehaviorinanundervoltageconditiondepends ontheVBUS.UVMODE setting.

Safety function STO

evenwhenpoweris beingsupplied, thedriveshaft is protectedagainst unintentional restart. Thechapter“Safe
