GE MU320E process interface unit

A process interface unit with integrated analog and digital merging interfaces
MU320E is a process Interface Unit (PIU) with analog and binary interfaces, capable of complete switch station modeling, control and digitization in accordance with IEC 61850 standards and protocols such as sample values (SV) and GOOSE.

MU320E realizes the advantages of digital substations as I/O interfaces with each bracket-level improvised explosive device, especially the protection relays and bracket-level control units. Limiting on-site cabling to only MU320E can also reduce project complexity by minimizing cabling and physical connections. The bracket IED can utilize data from redundant MU320E units, thereby enhancing system availability. Moreover, as it does not involve on-site wiring, it can be replaced quickly. The MU320E also has an additional advantage, which is to enhance CT performance and cost by reducing the connection burden and the number of CT cores required for applications.

Main advantages
The compact form supports the installation of on-site installation options into circuit breaker cabinets, terminal booths and metal-clad switchgear.
Six I/O card slots allow for a variety of applications. As a merged unit, remote I/O devices or PIUs. Sizes and points suitable for all types of applications.
The high-speed and high-breaking output contact option can be directly applied to circuit breakers and switchgear.
The slot support for two CT/VT analog boards is applied to the half-circuit of circuit breakers, dual distribution feeders, combined protection and metering installation.
Optional CT/VT analog board with metering accuracy for revenue metering and power quality applications.
Two SV streams can be realized (one for each CT/VT simulation board). Each stream can be a protection (80 s/c) or power quality (256 s/c) SV stream.
Fully integrated into the digital substation through two Ethernet ports, it supports the Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) high Availability network and the IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol.
The complete IEC 61850 2nd edition, including support for test modes and simulations. Multiple logic devices integrate multiple circuit breakers and disconnectors into one MU320E.
