Stucke Elektronik SYMAP®EC Engine Control
SYMAP® EC (Engine Control) is a multi-functional digital integrated device specifically designed for engine control and automation,
launched by Stucke Elektronik (a part of the Stucke Group) in Germany.
1 It is one of the core models in the SYMAP® series, mainly used for monitoring the start, stop, and operation of diesel engines, gas engines, or turbines.
1. Product Description
SYMAP® EC is a microprocessor-based control terminal designed to provide a fully automated control solution for the power source (engine/motors) of power generation units.
It not only handles complex start/stop logic but also can monitor real-time operating parameters of the engine (such as speed, pressure, and temperature), and execute protective shutdown when abnormalities are detected.
Core positioning: Pure engine controller (does not include complex generator electrical parameter protection. If generator protection is required, the ECG model is usually selected.)
Hardware structure: It adopts a robust embedded design. The front panel is equipped with a graphical LCD and operation buttons, making it suitable for installation on switch cabinets or control panels. 2

2. Technical Parameter Table
As the specific configurations may vary depending on the order number, the following are the general specifications for the standard model:
Parameter Item Specification Details
Power Supply 24V DC (standard range is typically 12V – 36V DC)
Power Consumption < 30 W
Processor 3 high-performance microprocessors (redundant monitoring, each serving as a Watchdog)
Display Large-sized graphical LCD, supports multiple languages (English, German, French, Chinese, etc.)
Input/Output Multiple digital inputs (DI), relay outputs (DO); supports 4-20mA analog input
Speed Measurement Supports magnetic pickup sensor (Magnetic Pick-up) or pulse input
Communication Interface RS232 (front panel), RS485/422. CANBUS, Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus DP
Protection Grade Panel front IP54 (IEC 529), terminal block IP10
Operating Temperature -20°C to +70°C
Event Storage Up to 5.000 event logs can be recorded, and the data is not lost even in the event of power failure
3. Related Models (Related Models)
The SYMAP® series is divided into multiple sub-models based on application functions:
SYMAP® EC: Engine Control (Engine Control) 3
SYMAP® ECG: Engine Control + Generator Protection (the most commonly used integrated model). 4
SYMAP® G / F / T: Pure protection models specifically for generators (Generator), feeders (Feeder), and transformers (Transformer). 5
SYMAP® BC / Y / R: A series of variants designed for different installation forms (such as plug-in type, compact type).
SYMAP® Compact+: The latest generation of high-performance compact series.
4. Application Cases
Marine Engineering and Ships: Fully automatic control for main generators (Main Gensets) and emergency generators (Emergency Gensets).
Dynamic Positioning System (DP): As an independent power management terminal in DP2/DP3 class vessels.
Land power station: Backup power system control for hospitals, data centers or factories.
Hybrid power system: In recent years, it has also been applied to the hybrid power management for battery energy storage and grid connection of generators.
5. Product Advantages & Features
“1-Box Solution”: Integrates control, monitoring, logic alarm and communication functions, simplifying the wiring inside the control panel.
High security: An internal 3-CPU redundant architecture is adopted. Even if one of the processors fails, the critical protection functions can still operate through the other processors.
Built-in PLC function: Allows users to customize logical interlocks (such as circuit breaker locking conditions), without the need to add an additional small PLC. 6
Intuitive HMI: All parameter settings can be completed directly through the panel buttons and menus without the need to connect to a computer. 7
Class certification: Possesses type approval from major classification societies (such as DNV, GL, LR, ABS, BV, CCS).
6. Other Models in the Same Series
In addition to the core SYMAP® platform, Stucke also offers:
ECO® Series: A small-sized controller specifically designed for standalone applications, with optimized cost.
SYMAP® BAT: A battery energy management model specifically designed for use in inverter control. 8
SYMAP® Compact+ GC: Integrates advanced differential protection and a high-end protection controller that complies with IEC 61850 standards.
