Alstom IRVI20 – REGULATION INTERFACE BOARD
The Alstom IRVI20 is a Regulation Interface Board that comes with the Alstom AMS4.1 series automatic voltage regulator (AVR).
Its core function is to achieve the acquisition, conditioning, isolation transmission and logical adaptation of control signals in the excitation system.
It serves as a crucial signal bridge between the AVR controller and the generator/excitation power module, and is commonly found in scenarios such as synchronous generator excitation control in power plants and industrial power generation.
Core positioning and key functions
“Dimension details”
Core role
The signal hub of the AVR system connects the controller with the power execution unit, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of excitation regulation
Signal processing
Collect analog quantities such as generator voltage/current, rotational speed, and excitation current; Handle digital control instructions and status feedback
Electrical isolation
The analog/digital channels are independently isolated to suppress common-mode interference and protect the core control circuit of the AVR
Interface adaptation
It provides standard terminal connection sensors, trigger units and monitoring systems, and supports closed-loop regulation and fault interlocking
Fault diagnosis
Built-in fault detection logic outputs alarm/interlock signals to enhance system maintainability
Typical applications and installations
Compatible system
The Alstom AMS4.1 AVR system is often installed in the same cabinet as modules such as ARTN1, BCEA1, and BCSA1.
Installation method
Standard rail or VME rack installation, integrated into the excitation control cabinet, requires standardized grounding and shielding.
Core scene
Excitation regulation and grid connection control of synchronous generators in thermal power, hydropower, combined cycle power stations and industrial self-owned power plants.
Key technical features (refer to the interface boards of the same series)
Signal type
Supports 4-20mA analog input/output, dry contact digital I/O, and is compatible with industrial standard signals.
Isolation level
The analog channel is ≥ 1.5kV AC and the digital channel is ≥ 500V AC, meeting the anti-interference requirements in strong current environments.
Working environment
Temperature range: -20°C to +70°C, protection grade: IP20 (must be installed in a closed electrical cabinet).
Communication/Linkage: Supports backplane communication with the AVR main controller, compatible with CAN or dedicated buses, to achieve parameter upload and remote diagnosis.
Common association and maintenance points
Supporting modules
In the AMS4.1 AVR system, it works in coordination with modules such as MDMI1 (Measurement Interface) and ESVI1 (Excitation Monitoring).
Spare parts and Replacement
As a core spare part of AVR, faults are mostly manifested as abnormal regulation, signal loss or alarm. Replacement requires matching the firmware version and recalibrating the parameters.
Key points of debugging
After installation, the accuracy of the analog channel needs to be calibrated, the interlock logic verified, and the failover and redundancy performance tested to ensure compatibility with the AVR main program.
