AEROTECH Ndrive HPe 10/20/30
Ndrive HPe 10/20/30
Introduction
Aerotech’s Ndrive HPe10/20/30 (HighPowerPWM)network digital driveis ahighperformanceamplifier.
Thedriveprovides deterministic behavior, auto-identification, and easy software setup. The Ndrive HPe
10/20/30’s high performance doubleprecision floating point DSP controls thedigital PID andcurrent loops.
All system configuration is doneusingsoftware-settable parameters, including control loop gains and
system safety functions.
TheNdriveHPe10/20/30is offeredwithanoptional encoderinterpolationfeature(-MXH), anauxiliary
squarewaveencoderinput fordual loopcontrol, dedicatedanaloganddigital I/O (expandablewiththe-IO
option), a resolver input, and separate powerconnections formotorandcontrol supply voltages
. Drive and Software Compatibility
Thefollowing table lists the available drives and which version of the software first supported the drive.
Drives that list a specific version numberin theLast Software Version columnwill not besupportedafter
the listed version.
System Power Requirements
Thefollowing equations canbeusedtodeterminetotal system powerrequirements. Theactual power
required from the mains supply will bethecombinationof actual motorpower(work), motorresistance
losses, andefficiency losses in the powerelectronics orpowertransformer. AnEfficiencyFactorof
approximately 90% shouldbeusedinthefollowingequations
. Power Dissipation
Theamplifier powerdissipation undercontinuous powersupply andoutput current conditions is shownin
Figure 1-3. Thevalues onthegraphrepresent thepeak current that theamplifierwouldprovideduring
operation. Whenthebus voltageandoutput current areknown, theamplifierpowerdissipationis foundusing
this graph. Figure 1-4 shows themaximum recommendedambient temperatureas afunctionof amplifier
powerdissipation. Usethis graphalongwiththepowerdissipationobtainedfrom thefirst graphtodetermine
the maximumambient temperature. If theresult is lowerthantheknownoperatingambient temperature,
additional measures arerequired to cool theNdriveHPe10/20/30. Mountingit toalargemetal plateforextra
heat-sinking and providing additional fan flow are suggested.
